Fell into a bizarre rabbit hole looking into ancient fediverse / open social history. It's pretty amazing how many starts this thing we are building has had. The history is very rich.
@liaizon has anybody written up that history? Or do you intend to?
@bhaugen there are many attempts at different parts but the vastness of the interconnections makes this sort of a massive undertaking

@bhaugen @youronlyone has a wiki timeline history they have been working on for a long time somewhere and there's someone who just published a book that I feel like must have some of the history in it but yes there is a lack of a thorough history
@liaizon @bhaugen @youronlyone I've written a bit here and there, but agreed: the history of OStatus/diaspora federated social media itself is a rich tapestry that's very hard to present.

I haven't updated the git version for a while, I still don't have a new desktop/laptop. 
Just ignore the proposed terms (mycelium, mycelial), I'm dropping it since in the end no one wants to use the result from the polls (and it was used by some people to discredit the work instead of focusing on the details 
).
