Are there any *good* alternatives to Google Sheets / Exel? Please don't respond with CryptDrive or Nextcloud they are not the answer I am looking for.
I should say: it really needs a mobile first layout
@liaizon I’ve bookmarked this one the other day, haven’t tried yet: https://www.getgrist.com (but now it says about an “AI assistant” ). Otherwise been using OnlyOffice?
Edit: realise this isn’t really an answer to “good” since it misses serious experience, but maybe that’s still useful directions to try…
@nclm I looked at this ages ago, do you know any community hosted instances?
@liaizon I don’t, but there’s a local version though if you don’t need online: https://github.com/gristlabs/grist-desktop
@liaizon Grist or Nocodb are not spreadsheet, but more like airtable.
OnlyOffice has a web version (what powers Cryptpad) is decent but you said no. It isn't great on mobile. Ethercalc is limited, in my opinion.
Then there is https://www.ironcalc.com/ which looks promising, but it doesn't (yet) collaboration.
Have you tried the open source one the French government released last month?
I can't for the life of me remember the name, it was something super generic. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit: found it, "Docs"
https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs
Not quite excel, so not what you're looking for unfortunately! Sorry.
@liaizon onlyoffice possibly
@liaizon I haven't tried the mobile version but desktop works great https://www.onlyoffice.com/download-desktop.aspx#mobile
@liaizon Have you tried ethercalc? You can self-host, or use a free instance running here (only allows max 335 days of inactivity): https://framacalc.org
@exquisitecorp seems its also very not mobile layout friendly
@liaizon No answers from me, but I’m curious why not Nextcloud because I am looking into that one
@liaizon just found this one, and planning to try later: https://nocodb.com
It can be self-hosted :)
@liaizon This too looks interesting! https://teable.io/
@ayo oh wow these look like they might have some potential!
@liaizon
Well there is Libreoffice android but it's very barebones
@liaizon Damn. Yup, looks like I have the same issue when I try to load it up using Vanadium. It works on Firefox mobile, though, which is what I normally use.
@jevans ah I am also on Vanadium for this error, I didnt think to check in Firefox. So many this is just a weird Graphene bug with security restrictions
