@liaizon
"The account of the Assam Police has been suspend from this instance.

We decided that we will not welcome cops on this instance, and we encourage the rest of the fediverse to do the same. "

@liaizon I don't see the point of this because people are only going to be following that account. If the police wanted to follow people on mastodon they could do so by registering accounts in other names. Suspending their account might make people feel safer but it seems like a false sense of security.

@highfellow @liaizon Obviously you (and I as well) aren't concerned by police harassment and murder of minorities, so why don't you sit this one out?
@highfellow @liaizon Back at you, pal, in the same post you said "I don't see the point" without asking about it and "it seems like" while missing said point by a mile. Please check yourself.

@hypolite @liaizon what I mean is you don't know me and my whole life just from reading one post I've made. That's all I want to say.

@DavidBond @liaizon Ah yes, surely it will improve the social standing of this platform.

@liaizon real high-quality jounalism when they don't make even a token effort to dig beyond one party's statement or reach out to folks on the other side of the issue...

@liaizon love how this article assumes mastodon is a centralized platform

@liaizon is this like the time when the media talked about the international hacker group known as 4chan

@liaizon
*cries in Indian's cops language*
T-t-that's not fair mastodon-chan >:(
@liaizon Fake and gay, shitposter.club welcomes the Assam police force and supports their efforts for a safer fediverse, unlike the bigots at mastodon.social
@liaizon Neither you nor streetshitters express speak for the fedi.
@liaizon Yeah I'm sure they're gonna arrest some guy named Carl Ereal in Cleveland.

@liaizon

I hate the confusion between the Mastodon app, Mastodon.social and the #fediverse. Cops are welcome to use the app, no one can stop them from being on their own instance on the #fediverse, even if Mastodon.social and other instances block them. Ugh.

@wjmaggos I agree the name stuff is confusing as hell. But really the problem is with calling any of this a "social network" because that term is tainted by 15 years of "centralization"

@liaizon

totally. It's much clearer to think of the #fediverse as the only true social "network", but back in reality, I'd really like to see either the app or mastodon.social re-brand. Not easy or fun I'm sure. Or we need a different instance/server to become the dominant default.
