It is popular to criticise surveillance/capitalism and to want/work towards a decentralized, secure and diverse communication and media landscape. However, there are real devices, networks, states and stores to navigate, inducing technical and usable-security challenges. #deltachat dev efforts are following a "speculative realism" instead of an idealist approach. We care about cooperative user testing, maintenability and development. We btw moved to #rustlang in 2019 ... when it wasn't cool :)

@liaizon nope. No accounts there right now. Very few in core dev and user communities engage with or have experience on these platforms. There are some.3rd party videos etc ... Eventually it'd be good to go there more decidedly
@liaizon @delta given the many "alternative" messengers and their fan communities it probably makes sense to gather enough unique features before trying to go more mainstream. We are nearing that "uniqueness" point but some prospective 2025 developments, especially a growing #chatmail server ecosystem, are necessary to achieve scalability to many million users, anyway.

@liaizon @delta fun fact: most videos on this channel are in fact unlisted explanation videos @r10s made for google in the attempt to get gmail to allow oauth2 usage with DeltaChat. Google increased their requirements all the time - until we recently decided to stop caring, when they wanted us to pay for it.
