Our names come in all shapes! Both #fediverse projects #Streams and #Kitsune now support Unicode usernames! This is something I have been talking about since I first joined the fedi in 2017 so I am very excited about this. I can't wait till I get a mention from someone with a username like @王李@中国聊天.中国 or @դմիտրի@Թբիլիսի@ժայռեր

@liaizon unfortunately not. For the MVP of Unicode usernames, we only allow actual letters and numbers from Unicode scripts, no emojis.
This was mainly done because from a poll I made a while ago, the choice of even supporting Unicode was somewhat controversial to some extent, but with only supporting actual letters and numbers I can be somewhat confident that we have, thanks to the database-level Unicode collation, pretty much no impersonation issues (excluding the issues that ASCII also has, where an uppercase "i" looks like a lowercase "L").
But this is a requirement added to the code, meaning we can loosen this requirement without any database migrations.
