I've almost finished my first notebook for practising #shavian, and I think next I want to start a mini-site for transliterations of poems and prose excerpts (short, say <500 words). I'd like to have a bit of fun with styling, and I'd also like people to be able to subscribe through ActivityPub.
What's the right tool to use for this?
Extra challenge: I don't know how to self-host. I know how to install something in a VM terminal, but I don't understand how that becomes a website.
It's alive!

I’m training up some machine learning models to 'disambiguate homographs' (aka heteronyms, or words with identical Latin alphabet spellings but different pronunciations like ‘bow/bow’, ‘tear/tear’). This will help solve one of the more annoying aspects of auto transliteration into #Shavian. It is both very exciting and intensely boring, since I’m having to make the data sets. Hard to believe there is almost no publicly available training data for this. #𐑖𐑱𐑝𐑾𐑯
Does anyone out there know how to use the shavian alphabet for English (and do so on the web)? I wonder whether there are any forums and such for newbies to participate and learn in that are recommended.

My layman's understanding of #dyslexia is that if I see ◰ and ◱, I think "top left quarter in a square" and "bottom left…". I only secondarily realize they're vertical mirrors. A #dyslexic person sees both ◲ and ◰ as "square with quadrant" and only secondarily notices "in bottom right" or "in top left".
I confess that I don't understand the Open Dyslexic font rationale. In normal sans-serif fonts, the four lowercase letters b,d,p,q are identical to each other (provided the font you're using doesn't put a serif on the q): any single letter can flip or spin onto any other. If you thicken the bottoms, b|d is still a mirrored pair, as is p|q. Doing base thickening on the #Shavian letters would still leave ado|on and egg|ash as mirrored pairs.
The Dyslexie font seem better, in that it makes the round part of 'b' and 'd' egg-shaped. In 'b' the egg is fat-end-down, and in 'd' it's fat-end-up: the letters can't be mirrored onto each other. It makes the round part of 'p' more fat-middle. And 'q' is rendered as a half-size 'Q'.
In my worldview, one would have to alter letters such that none could be mirrored or rotated onto another. But the Shavian font is, by design, highly symmetric. The unvoiced tall 'fee' [ 𐑓 ] rotates to become the voiced deep 'vow' [ 𐑝 ]. Nine other unvoiced-voiced letter pairs do that. Loll/roar and mime/nun are horizontal mirrors [ 𐑤 𐑮 𐑥 𐑯 ], and so on. In fact, only eight of 48 letters have no mates [ if, eat, up, oak, array, ear, ian, yew ]. So making a font where no letter can rotate or mirror onto another seems unlikely.
@bok What if the #Shavian letters were modified in the Open Dyslexic style where the thickness indicates the bottom of the letter? This is my first ham-fisted attempt in a few minutes with FontForge (which I've never used before today)

I've been looking at the #Shavian #alphabet a bit lately. It looks nice, but must be hellish if one is #dyslexic. For example, the starting vowels for on, ash, egg, ado [ 𐑪 𐑨 𐑧 𐑩 ]¹ are the same character, rotated four ways. Most letters are rotations or reflections of others.
[1] If you lack the font, imagine a circle [not disk] cut into quarters. The vowels are NE, SE, SW, NW arcs, slightly elongated vertically.
