Milan<p>spammers following newsletter rules confuse the poor <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>thunderbird</span></a> again</p>
Zudn<p>Just opened up the <a href="https://theres.life/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> app to check out the calendar. Had tried the RSS feed but something didn't work for me. Just now I noticed that the RSS area can either show the article summary or load the web page. I don't want either; I want the article text without the web page. That's what most of the readers I've used do.</p>

Justine SmithiesI'm running a radicals server but mainly use it for our android mobile calendars. You could always use <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Thunderbird</a> as it has calendar support for the desktop ?<br>
Paul<p>Managed to get cron working for <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Nextcloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nextcloud</span></a> - the RSS feed now updates correctly.</p><p>On the laptop, I can see my feeds through <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> but by adding the same feeds to Nextcloud, I can access them through my phone.</p><p>Next up is revisiting the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Forgejo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Forgejo</span></a> set up off the back of what I have learned with Nextcloud. This really is turning into the most enjoyable of projects and I am learning so much.</p>
Colin Cogle :verified:<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@shojiwax" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>shojiwax</span></a></span> An email client? I’d recommend <a href="https://mastodon.colincogle.name/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a>. It’s been around for a while, and like Firefox, it’s stable, feature-filled, natively supports encryption, and there’s plenty of add-ons, too. I also use it for newsgroups and RSS.</p>
Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox<p>The latest Thunderbird Monthly Development Digest is out! You can read about:</p><p>* our experience at FOSDEM <br>* First Time User Experience in Account Hub <br>* next steps for the Global Message Database<br>* improvements to In-App Notifications <br>* and more!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Development" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Development</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSource</span></a></p><p><a href="https://blog.thunderbird.net/2025/02/thunderbird-monthly-development-digest-january-2025/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">blog.thunderbird.net/2025/02/t</span><span class="invisible">hunderbird-monthly-development-digest-january-2025/</span></a></p>
Trevor Burrows<p>On the flipside, I'll share that the mobile setup for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> was a breeze this morning:</p><p>* Open the desktop app<br>* Get a QR code that has all your accounts and settings<br>* Install the mobile app<br>* Snap the QR code</p><p>Seamless.</p>
Trevor Burrows<p>A little surprising to me that <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Mobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mobile</span></a> doesn't have the same <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> features as the desktop.</p><p>I've been using RSS a lot more lately - after quite some time away - and have enjoyed having RSS feeds right in Thunderbird, alongside everything else.</p><p>Not a big dealbreaker but a bummer.</p>

Hippo 🍉<p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TIL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TIL</span></a> that <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> lets me set <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/filters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>filters</span></a> to move an <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>email</span></a> to a particular place *when* I archive it, rather than immediately! So I can still read the emails as they come in, and then hit "archive" to have them automagically filed away 📁️</p><p>There are other triggers too, besides "as soon as the email comes in" and "when I archive" that I haven't explored yet. Thunderbird rocks! :thunderbird: ✨️</p><p><a href="https://blog.thunderbird.net/2024/11/maximize-your-day-make-important-messages-stand-out/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">blog.thunderbird.net/2024/11/m</span><span class="invisible">aximize-your-day-make-important-messages-stand-out/</span></a></p>
CyberSloth<p>Among other things, Mozilla Thunderbird can listen to your system's microphone without asking for permission. Yellow Flag<p>Oh, great, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> once again decided to create a new profile and use it by default. Lucky me that I know how to bring up the profile manager. For most users this is indistinguishable from complete data loss. And Thunderbird just keeps doing it…</p>

Carlile ⓋⒶ<p>Losing my mind here. Anyone using <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thunderbird</span></a> for Android? Push isn't working 90% of the time and I can't seem to find any solution. I've seen reports of people having the same problem, but no solutions and the responses are all the same (go to folder, enable push, disable sync, check app permissions, disable battery saver).</p><p>This is incredibly annoying as I'm missing important emails, not getting them until I manually refresh the mailbox. When I get an email, I want to know immediately.</p><p>Any other android mail apps worthwhile? I've used Blue Mail in the past, so I guess I could go back to that. I just want something with a unified inbox as I have multiple accounts.</p>
