for his second post on Threads, the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseril:
"We're committed to building support for ActivityPub, the protocol behind Mastodon, into this app. We weren't able to finish it for launch given a number of complications that come along with a decentralized network, but it's coming."

shoutout to @Alex0007 for sharing the news here, and @fediversereport for posting about it the same seconds I was posting this

every profile on Threads already has the instance tag 'threads.net' after the username and when you click it "Soon, you'll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, like Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, like @mosseri@threads.net."

omfg @zuck@threads.net

@liaizon I am wondering if I should be concerned about the exact way and position at which he chooses the exact word "deplatformed". Wondering if that reveals something about which set of users he is sympathetic with.

@mcc that phrasing is actually very strange now that you point it out. Isn't he admitting that they will be the ones inevitably deplatforming people? its. funny thing to say in an introduction post

@mcc @liaizon coming soon: the threads to detroit riot city pipeline

@liaizon "we weren't able to finish it for launch given a number of complications" is product manager for "we moved the launch date closer to capitalise on what we think is a lucrative market opportunity"

@liaizon I bet these "complications" they are talking about is just the fedipact, they probably didn't wanted that kind of PR on launch lol

@liaizon empire is trying to coopt us...
