@hypolite @wakest I also signed up for at @wakest@node9.org so I can attempt to figure out compatibility of groups between all these different pieces of software.

@liaizon @wakest Can't seem to be able to fully probe this address, I'll look into it tonight EST. Webfinger works but nothing afterwards.

@hypolite @wakest yeah I don't know whats up with that, I also cant see this account when searching from the mastodon side. @michal am I in somesort of sandbox phase cause I am new there?

@˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ have you installed the activitypub app in Hubzilla?

@mario each user has to install it!?

@mario @liaizon Shouldn't I be able to connect via Diaspora if AP isn't available?
@Hypolite Petovan you should, but also the Diaspora app needs to be installed.

@mario @hypolite ha, I guess I need to install that too! what is the reason not to just have this all configured as on by default?

@˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ compatibility. Activitypub and Diaspora can not deal very well with nomadic identities which are part of the zot protocol. Also zot provides privacy features which are not supported by other protocols yet.

@mario ah thnaks that makes sense. So if you set up a Zot only account then the nomadic identity stuff would work but if you have the other protocol apps installed all those connections get broken if you move your nomadic identity to a new server. Am I getting that right?

@˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ yes, you need to re-connect to diaspora and activitypub connections at the new location.
User's choice perhaps? Like other components in Hubzilla (Wiki, Articles, Web pages...), federation protocols are available as installable apps based on users' preference.

Also, Access control and Nomadic Identity work best in Zot-only (Nomad-only) mode.
