Nice mini-site from Alvy Ray Smith, one of the cofounders of Pixar, debunking a lot of the myths about Steve Jobs' involvement in the company.

TLDR; he was a very useful investor for them but the idea that his "vision" shaped the company is incorrect. Around the time Toy Story was poised to be a hit, he positioned himself to *look* like a visionary.

@darius this is so fascinating! and for some reason I did not know that "Catmull" of Catmull-Rom spline fame was a co-founder of Pixar, that's wild?!

@darius @aparrish woah had to look up Catmull mostly cause that’s a cool name and came across this “in 1972, Catmull made his earliest contribution to the film industry: an animated version of his left hand which was eventually...incorporated in the 1976 movie Futureworld...the first film to use 3D computer graphics”

@liaizon @darius ok now I want to play a video game with this aesthetic (bloomey grainy film of low-poly models)

@aparrish @darius I was thinking it would make a great web comic format sorta like pixel dog
