Looks like the idea of an open source duolingo equivalent is popular around here. Anyone wanna play with writing up a list of all the things that would need to be figured out to make something like that happen? Would be really interesting to have a social component tied into the fediverse.

It's all community driven, so quality varies widely. That said I've seen impressive card sets, and the tools are there to do just about anything (multimedia, LaTeX math, html, etc) on a card.

@liaizon The thing that jumps to the top of my head reading this is that FOSS already has plenty of text for such a project.

Most projects want to speak whatever language it's users does and as such they have files translating short phrases between (typically) English and other languages. While more help with these would be appreciated, it's not hard to find eager contributors.
